What We’re Looking For:  We are looking for a suitable candidate to join the Trade Waste Team. The Trade Waste team are a group of technical officers who work with integrity in a fast-paced environment to deliver excellent customer service. The team works within the Customer Engagement Group, responsible for managing our trade waste approval and compliance program.  

About this role:  The role of the Trade Waste Officer has the primary responsibility for providing technical advice for customer enquiries or complaints, processing approvals for discharge of liquid trade waste to the sewerage system and ensuring customer compliance for the protection of Icon Water assets.

 

Responsibilities of this role:  The key responsibilities of this role include:

  • Provide friendly, timely and accurate resolution of customer service requests in line with customer service KPIs and organisational customer experience expectations.
  • Ensure decisions, advice and inspections comply with relevant Acts, Codes and Guidelines.
  • Process approvals for discharge of liquid trade waste to the sewerage system.
  • Provide technical advice and on-site inspection assistance to Case Management Officer’s, as requested, to inform the investigation and resolution of complaints, enquiries and applications.
  • Conduct inspections on an annual schedule to monitor compliance of businesses to approved liquid trade waste agreements.
  • Conduct inspections to provide technical advice to customers on compliance and network protection issues.
  • Comply with legislative and contractual obligations and prepare high quality letters, reports and emails.
  • Build and maintain key stakeholder relationships, both internal and external, ddevelop and maintain effective and collaborative working relations to achieve outcomes.
  • Ensure records are maintained at a high level of accuracy and quality control.
  • Utilise information technology and other evolving technologies in the workplace to achieve efficiencies.
  • Participate in the implementation of improved work practices and processes leading to increased workplace efficiencies and productivity gains.
  • Escalate emergency situations in accordance with defined processes.

 

Who we are looking for:  We are looking for suitable candidates with the following qualifications, knowledge and experience:

  • Fully licensed plumber or Advanced Diploma in science or engineering (desirable).
  • Extensive experience in a water industry technical role.
  • Drivers licence (mandatory).
  • Demonstrated experience in providing high quality communications across a broad range of customers.
  • Demonstrated experience in communicating effectively and sensitively with vulnerable people.
  • Proven ability to ‘self-start’ and organise a complex workload and work to strict deadlines.
  • Experience in influencing and gaining the cooperation of teams or individuals to meet objectives. 
  • Knowledge and understanding of the application of legislation, codes and contracts.
  • Knowledge of the planning and operation of sewerage systems, including the safety and environmental implications of liquid waste discharges.
